40 Days of Service
40 Days of Service
Take a step out of your comfort zone by caring for your under-served neighbors!
Lent is a season of preparation for Easter. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, the ancient Church incorporated 40 days of practices that reminded them that the light of Christ’s resurrection was only possible through the darkness of the self-sacrifice.
One of these Lenten practices was acts of service and giving on behalf of the poor. In serving others, we die to ourselves in small ways that mirror Christ’s death on our behalf. And as we serve together, we remember that we don’t exist only for ourselves, but for the good of those around us.
Check out the opportunities below as ways to engage with your city and under-served neighbors as you prepare your own heart for the celebration of Easter.
