You’re invited to join World Relief and Hope for San Diego for lunch with Matthew Soerens, director of church mobilization for World Relief, and co-author of Seeking Refuge and Welcoming the Stranger.
Enjoy lunch homemade by Syrian refugee friends while learning more about the global refugee crisis and how we can care for and invest in our neighbors resettled in San Diego from all over the world.
Matthew Soerens serves as the US Director of Church Mobilization for World Relief, which is the humanitarian arm of the National Association of Evangelicals. In that role, he helps evangelical churches to understand the realities of refugees and immigration and to respond in ways guided by biblical values.
Matthew is the co-author of Seeking Refuge and Welcoming the Stranger, two of the foremost books advocating a view of immigration informed by a biblical lens. He also serves as the Field Director for the Evangelical Immigration Table, a coalition of Christian organizations of which World Relief is a founding member. Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College and a master’s degree from DePaul University’s School of Public Service. Originally from Neenah, Wisconsin, Matthew now lives in suburban Chicago.
